Question : Hello Dr.,

I am writing because of an abnormality in my stool. A piece of stool from a bowel movement earlier today possessed many visible large white streaks. Is this normal? I've also had some off and on gastrointestinal distress for some weeks. Could this be a symptom of something I need to get checked? I had a 2nd bowel movement just a bit ago, and did not notice any white in it. If I don't notice it in the future is it safe to just ignore? Although unseemly, I did take a quick picture just in case it made a diagnosis much easier. Let me know if it is something I should attach. Thank you.

Could be parasitic infestation.

Hello,

I carefully read your question and understand your concern.
White streaks in stools could be suggestive of parasitic infestation. It couuld be egg larvae or parasite itself.
Get a stool routine and sensitivity test done, this includes stool for ova and cysts.
Take Albendazole 400 mg tablet daily for 3 days (anti helmenthic) along with ivermectin 6mg tablet once. Drink cleaner water.

I have attached the picture in question. If you notice the tip of the stool but also throughout. Is that indicative of a parasitic infection? I am much appreciative of your help. All my best.

Brief Answer:
Have seen photo.

Detailed Answer:
Hello there,
Most likely they are ovas or eggs of parasite.
I would recommend you to take deworming pills and to go for a stool test.
Next time if this happens keep a small sample with you and take it to lab.
Till that time get a stool test done.
Follow up with report.
Wish you a healthy lige ahead.
Regards!
