Hi Doctor , I Received My MRI , Can You

C5-C6: Disc herniation with osteophytic ridge and underlying disc desiccation and disc
height loss abutting the ventral cord resulting in moderate to severe central canal
stenosis unchanged since the prior study. When combined with uncovertebral joint
hypertrophy there is severe bilateral foraminal stenosis impinging the exiting bilateral
C6 nerve roots unchanged.
C6-C7: Right paracentral disc herniation more pronounced than seen on the prior study
now contacting the right ventral cord (axial 14, sagittal 5) with further right
foraminal stenosis impinging the exiting right C7 nerve root.
Moderate to severe spinal degenerative changes.
Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome to the “Ask a Doctor service.
I have read your question.
Disc dedication and osteophytes refers to prolonged degenerative disease of the spine, together with the herniated disc there is a compression and narrowing of the spinal cord.
Hypertrophic joints also with the narrowing of the nerve foramina are a consequence of the degenerative changes.
The majority of the MRI findings are stable with the previous examination, so there’s no progression of the condition.
Treatment may include physical therapy, painkillers and surgery ( decompression ).
Discuss with a Neurosurgeon these issues.
Hope you found the answer helpful.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
