Question: I woke up this morning after sleeping on my back and I could not see. I put my hands in front of my face and I could not see. I grabbed my phone as I knew where it was and I could not see. Eventually I sat up in bed and my vision returned.

Brief Answer:
See a doctor if this happens to you every day.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thank you for your question.
Hope I can be of help to you today.

The common cause of sudden vision loss can be caused from eye trauma, blockage of blood flow in the retina, retina detachment ( the pulling of the retina away from its usual position at the back of the eyes, inflammation of the blood vessels that supply the eye and the optic nerve or inflammation of the optic nerve itself can also cause vision loss.

Do you have a history of eye trauma? Any risk of vascular disease? Dry tears can also cause dryness on the surface of your eyes, causing blurry vision in the morning. After you blink a few times after waking up can remoisten your eye cornea and get rid of blurriness.

See a doctor if this happens to you every day.

Hope It helps, and please let me know if you have any clarification or question, I would be glad to discuss it with you further.

Best regards,
