Question: My husband took naltrexone before stopping alcohol and drugs and it sent him into a precipitated withdrawal. It’s been 48 hours and he’s still in agonizing pain especially in his head. Is there something we can do?

Brief Answer:
I recommend to go at the emergency room.

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Naltrexone can not be used with other painkillers due to interactions.
So, in case that the pain continues, I recommend to go at the emergency room for evaluation and specific treatment.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Kind regards!
