Brief Answer:
tinnitus- different causes, some reversible

Detailed Answer:
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

The hissing noise , called tinnitus, can occur for different reasons, you would need assessment by an ENT specialist to find the cause for you.

In some cases, the cause is not reversible.

Some common causes of tinnitus are--(1)associated with hearing loss
(2)medication, as you mentioned, aspirin can do it but other meds such as advil, aleve and similar meds can also do this
Some blood pressure meds and antibiotics as well
(3)excess ear wax or an ear infection
(4)perforated or burst ear drum
(5)head injury
(6)anemia
(7)meniere's disease
(8)growth in the inner ear

IF there is a reversible or treatable cause such as infection or excess wax, perforation of ear drum, anemia, removal of growth-- then treatment can be given and it may resolved

In some cases it is not due to a treatable/reversible cause.

If there is hearing loss then using a hearing aid may help

Since it is usually most noticeable in a quiet environment then using sound therapy such radio, tv, noises from outside by opening window etc, may help.

I hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions
