Suggest Treatment For Nodules On The Thyroid Gland

default
Posted on Mon, 22 Jun 2015
Question: Thank you..........I have just found out from my primary physician that I have nodulars in my Thyroid Gland. I have been referred to an ENT for the nodulars to be aspirated to check for possible cancer. My question.....when the nodular is aspirated, does any of the fluid taken from the nodular escape the needle (if in fact, it is cancerous, would that cause to infect other areas of the Thyroid? Also, a functional doctor I spoke with said that he sees a goiter in my throat (my grandmother did have a goiter, also a nephew). What causes a goiter and is there something I can do to diminish its growth?
I am a 73 year old female who is suddenly realizing that I am getting old and have to accept all these changes I am experiencing ( loss of hearing, eyesight, weight gain etc.) :( What are your thoughts on functional/wholistic/alternative medicine? Many thanks.... XXXXXXX

No the spillage doesn't affect other parts of the thyroid gland.
To reduce the size of gland (goiter) we need to do complete thyroid profile and may prescribe Medicines for that. Beta blockers and thyroxine usually. Then we may go for surgery if needed. There are many causes that cause thyroid. It has a genetic element too. And you have a positive family history. Its sometimes idiopathic. Sometimes autoimmune. Etc etc
Relax and wait please for the FNAC results. They will take care of it.

Thank you, Doctor Hanif,
You mentioned I would suppose some test........What do the letters FNAC stand for and what will it tell me about my Thyroid/Goiter condition? I've never requested information before.......Also, what are your thoughts and/or feelings on alternative medicine? As a Christian, I am of the belief that God has put cures in our world somewhere, to all our ills, for us to find, as a people. So utilizing things from nature in lieu of many of the things the pharmacists concoct makes a lot of sense to me. I realize you have been trained to heal with all the medications available to our physicians......it is not my aim to demean what you do.....but have you ever thought about other things we can do besides taking meds for all our ills? Just asking?
Sincerely, XXXXXXX

I welcome you back and appreciate your concerns and will answer to help you gain health and best out of yourself.
FNAC (Fine Needle Aspiration Cytology) is the same test which ENT doctor or pathologist wants to aspirate your nodule to see what the fluid contains. It tells the morphology of the nodule. Is it normal thyroid tissue that's enlarged or it's a cancer. I need you to act upon the advice of the doctor after the FNAC test result is there with him. It's for the best of your health.

Alternative medicine is doing wonders in the field of medicine too. You should definitely try that too, but along with the treatment considerations of the Physician treating you.
