Question : I was diagnosed with IBS a long time ago. I am 76 now. It is too common now that I have diarrhea. I take an anti-diarrheal on a regular basis and have had more than one embarrassing incident. Can sugar trigger these episode So? I very seldom have fried food.

Way back when I was first diagnosed I took, I believe, Librium. I have not used any medication since that time, except OTC items such as Immodium.

the treatment of IBS has come a long way since then.
I have the following suggestions.
1. isapghula husk 3tsf at bedtime.
2. plenty of fluids.
3. high fiber diet,
4. tab amitryptiline needs to be considered but it's a prescription medicine.
