Question : I spent the last week in the hospital due to abdominal pain and being severely bloated. I had two CT’s done, a sonogram and a HIDA scan. The first CT showed my appendix being slightly inflamed so they admitted me with intentions to do surgery. A few days went by they did every test possible and couldn’t find the reason for my abdominal pain. Finally they decided on exploratory surgery because I’ve been suffering from abdominal pain for the last year. During surgery they found that I had a black spot on my appendix and it was slightly inflamed. They sent the black part to pathology for tests. I won’t have answers for a few days but is this normal?! I’m just curious and kind of worried...
Brief Answer:
Could be pseudomyxoma.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Have gone through the description given by you and based on your description it could be pseudomyxoma. Pseudomyxoma peritonei is considered a rare form of cancer that typically starts in your appendix and is usually spotted as black spot or line along the appendix. Intially, in most of the cases it symptom-less but as it starts to grow it bursts up causing pain and inflammation in appendix.
Don't panic its just a possibility and things depends on the result of biopsy.Even if biopsy is positive it could be treated by sugarbakers surgery.
Keep your fingers crossed and wait for report of biopsy.
I wish you a good luck.
Please feel free to follow up.
Thanks.

That’s why I have read in some research also but I didn’t want to think to much about the cancer part because almost everything you google points to cancer but now hearing it from a professional I will hope for the best but prepare myself for the worst. Thank you so much for answering my question, I will for sure keep you posted once I hear from pathology.
