Question : I went to the emergency room on Sunday night because I coughed up a small amount of blood that the doctor said was due to viral bronchitis he also told me that I was showing some early warning signs of emphysema but he said that this could be easily remedied by quitting smoking. I left feeling pretty good all things considered and was determined to quit smoking. However, now I am looking back at the discharge paper work and see that he said I have an airtrapping in the bilateral lower lobes (I guess this is the warning sign for emphazema) and also that “findings suggest a small liver disease”. What does this mean? You would think he would have made some reference to a liver disease and not given me antiboliotics which are apparently harmful to the liver if he was that worried; however, when I google small liver disease all that comes up is Cirhossis which seams incredibly serious. I am not a big drinker and have never had hepatitis. What should I take from these findings.

Brief Answer:
Most likely mild fatty liver changes.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Firstly there is no term like small liver disease.Secondly what i feel is that the doctor wants to comment on mild fatty changes in liver.fatty liver disease is too much fat stored in liver cells. Nonalcoholic fatty liver a potentially serious form of the disease, is marked by liver inflammation, which may progress to scarring and irreversible damage. So i dont think doctor would miss a serious diagnosis like cirrhosis.Very likely he wants to write mild fatty liver like changes.
Don't worry its fully reversible all you need to do is,
Reducing the number of calories you eat each day can help you lose weight and heal your liver. You can also reverse fatty liver disease by reducing or eliminating fatty foods and foods high in sugar from your diet. Choose healthier foods such as fresh fruits, vegetables, and whole grains.
Take high cabohydrate and lean protein diet low in fats.

Add milk of thistle one capsule once daily(potent liver rejenuvator).
Repeat test after 3 months things would be much better.
Hope i was helpful.
