What Does A Hard Inflamed Area Around The Navel Indicate?
Question: my wife has a hard, inflamed area around her navel. was given Cipro, and bacitratin to apply topically, using very clean technique.
there was a white drainage from area a few days ago, but no longer the case, was a small black spot in area few days ago, not longer present. Cipro is 500 mg, PO, BiD

As per your description, it could be infected Sebaceous cyst or abscess which got ruptured around navel.
As the discharge has come down,nothing to worry.
Continue Ciprofloxacin 500mg twice daily as per your doctor's advice.
Hardness could be due to associated inflammation. I add anti inflammatory tablet containing Aceclofenac to my patients with similar complaints.
