Brief Answer:
I would explain as follows

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

Too much ammonia in the body could be related to liver or renal dysfunction or a high protein diet.

High levels of ammonia can be toxic for the heart and the brain leading to cardiac arrest, seizures or coma.

Has she suffered from hepatitis or any kidney infection?

There are many drugs to help improve kidney or liver function.

In the meantime, a low protein is recommended.

In severe cases hemodialyzis may be needed.

Treatment options depend on the primary underlying problem.

You should discuss with your doctor on the above issues.

Hope you will find this answer helpful!
