Any Relief From Pain By Taking Off External Fixator From Ankle?

Hi, can any of you tell me if I will have pain relief when I take the external fixator off of my ankle that was broke 14 weeks ago when I fell off the my roof. I know its a shot in the dark to answer. From what I can see from searching on the web such injuries sometimes cause pain for the rest of a persons life. my foot still hurts alot and swells up and turns purple. My dr says it shouldn't be causing any pain but to me its got to. the bolts are probably 3/16" diameter ang go all the way through the bones. I'm supposed to take it off tomorrow. I've put 60# pressure on it at PT but it hurts after being no weight on it for so long. I broke both ankles in the fall both have plates and sccrews in them now but the one without the fixator has healed well- I can stand on it and use crutches with it being my "good" leg the fixated one concerns me because it hurts so much heel is still very numb, toe part is hypersensitive and entire foot & ankle area has all sorts of different painful sensations all the time. Thanks B-rett
