Are White Patches On Skin Symptom Of Tinea Versicolor?

Hello. I am a 19 year old girl who moved to Phuket Thailand 3 months ago from Washington state. After about a month here I began to look all spotted. I thought at first it was that my sunscreen wasn't waterproof and had left white patches from where it would have made little droplets. After multiple times at the beach I wasn't tanning in those spots and it began spreading slowly. The patches are a bit dry and are spread on my thighs and across my back. I have been researching online and think it might be tinea versicolor. Now as I am reading I don't know, is it common to have it on my legs. I am really nervous because I am here until December and I can't go to the doctor here!
