Can Metronidazole Gel Cause Itching Vaginal Lumps?

I've started taking metronidazole vaginal gel for vaginitis 3 days ago and last night I noticed some small itching bumps around my vagina could it be that I'm having an reaction to to the gel? Is something wrong with me and do you see and hear cases like this?
