Can Herpes Cure Without Taking Any Medicines?

Hi, can I ask, is it important to take medicine for Herpes or can I let my body fight it off itself? I took medicine for it when I first caught it 12 months ago but it has never been very convenient to go back to the GUM clinic/never been that severe. (Age 27, female.)
