Can Weak Bones Be Related To Having Thyroid Problems?

Hi, I am 44 years old and I have recently been diagnosed with a multinodular goiter. Prior to the doctor knowing that, he told me I had low vitamin "D" and prescribed 50,000 units once a week for six months. Now 3 months after finishing the vitamin "d" regimine I have 4 stress fractures in my foot for no apparent reason. My foot doctor said maybe I have weak bones. I want to know could this be related to whatever thyroid problem I might have? I am not on any medication except for cholesterol medicine. Thank -you
