Could Dark Brown Spotting Be Periods?

I am on Lo Estrin 24 Fe for a year and a half and have been sexually active (normally without condoms) almost the entire time. I had unprotected sex 4 or 5 days ago and was due for my period this weekend. Instead, I've had dark brown spotting. Is this my period?
