Do Mini Pills Cause Heavy Bleeding?

I was taking cerazette mini pill for approx 4 years and usually had no periods then i had heavy bleeding for apporx 3 weeks and sore breasts, i had a blood test and my prolactin levels were slightly high, so i came off the mini pill and now they are normal. I just wondered if its a know affect of the mini pill. Now I have to consider contraception and im not sure what the best option is.
