Does Bartholin's Gland Swell During Menstrual Period?

Does the bartholin's gland swell during menstrual period?

I am 36 years old and have been experiencing very heavy bleeding this past year. I also have a golf ball sized swelling in the area of the bartholin's gland for most of my period. There is a feeling of "weight" and heaviness in that area that I often feel down into my leg.

OBGYN said it sounds like the bartolin gland, but that usually isn't related to the period. I will be having endometrial ablation in 6-8 weeks to deal with the bleeding and he said it may help with the swelling as well.

I belive it is a vericose vein pooling in the area, but he didn't see evidence of that either.

The swelling, heat and pain in the area are very uncomfortable!
