How To Confirm About The Infection That Occurred After An Hysterectomy?

After doing a pap smear, (end of March 2011) they picked up some potential cancer cells and as a result I had a hysterectomy where they removed my womb and my right ovary as it had a cyst. They also picked up that I had Trichomonas vaginalis and gave my husband and I medication. I took my medication but my husband did not. I am sure there has been reinfection. My question is what harm could have been done and is it too late for both of us to go on another round of medication since only one party took it last time.
