How To Prevent The Scarring Caused By A Waxing Accident?

I had a terrible waxing accident where my skin was ripped off around my mouth and upper lip. It is all red and inflamed. I have been applying polysporin and using a toner of witch hazel and rose water. Is there anything I can take or do to prevent scarring?
