How To Treat Swelling And Tingling In The Lower Lip ?

6 weeks ago I fell striking my face on a tiled floor. I had to have 23 stiches along the bottom of my lower lip as well as down my lip and across my chin. The laceration along my bottom lip was completely through the lip. I broke my upper palate and my jaws are wired shut. My problem is swelling of my lower left lip. It is still tingly..kinda numb and twice the thickness of my right lower lip. When I feel it, it feels thick and hard compared to my right lower lip...almost like granuloma. I am unable to drink from a straw because of this large swollen area and not having suction. I am wondering if this is normal after 6 weeks or if this should have resolved. Will I have to have surgery to remove this swollen hard area if it does not resolve and what is the time frame to wait and see if it resolves on its own. My chin also has a raised swollen area about the size of a quarter, right above where the stiches were below it. So the lip and chin are similar as stitches both ran below swollen area. Hope you can help relieve my worries about this.
