How To Treat The Instability, Swelling And Pain In The Metacarpophalangeal Joints (MCP) Of My Finger?

Yesterday I was fishing, tried to set the hook on a fish and my middle finger popped sideways. Now there is very little stability in the mcp of my middle finger. It is very swollen and painful now. Will this require surgery to fix? Thank you for your help.
