Is Brown Spotting Indication Of Periods?

i have pco.my period wasnt come for 4 month.i am not pregnant..So the doctor prescribe me Duphaston for 10 day twice a day.After the 3rd day i have small brown spots.So should i keep taking the medication or stop because my doctor said stop it when it will come but i don t know if this is because its small brownish yet.
