Is It Normal To Get Clumps During Periods?

Two days ago I started an extremely light period ( or what I thought was a period ) usually I have extremely heavy periods. I used a tampon today and when I removed it and inserted another one a white fleshy clump with a little bit of blood on it came out on the tube I inserted the new tampon with. I ve never seen anything like this before. I m not having any pain or cramping. Is this normal ? What causes this ? Thank you.
