Is it possible to diagnose or rule out Endometriosis without a pelvic exam? Background: I am a 32-year-old woman, 5 4 and 265 lbs. Since my 20 s, I have suffered from long, heavy periods that do not come on any sort of schedule. Sometime it can be as long as six weeks between cycles, sometimes as short as one week. Between periods, I often have spotting , never anything heavy but fairly common. Stomach cramping and lower back pain are very common for the few days before and first two or three days of each period. I have never been to a gynecologist. But please, before giving me a massive response on why I should, allow me to explain. When I was 17, I was a victim of sexual violence. Over the past 15 years, I have tried very hard to come to terms with that, but after years of therapy I am no closer to ending my anxiety over it. It not only affects how I react to medical staff, but also to people in my personal life. That being the case, the idea of having someone who I do not know examine me in such a way is completely out of the question. Which is why I wanted to ask if it is possible for a general practitioner, or even an ob-gyn, to diagnose or rule out such a condition using methods other than a pelvic exam?
