Is Regestrone Intake Safe While Going Through Menopause?

I am 48 years old women, Iam going through menopaus for which I am getting irregular periods and abdominal pain. Doctor recommended regestrone 5mg tab for 10 days. Is it safe and how can I benefit with this medicine, please explain.
