Is Swelling After Knee Surgery Normal?

I am a 50 year old male, 5'9", 167 lbs and in great health who just recently had surgery to remove a benign bump above my knee. There has never been any pain associated with it. Now the area is swollen and I was wondering is this normal and how long should they swelling last? I have been placing moist heat on it as told by my physician. It has been two weeks since the surgery.
