my father was admitted to hospital for 2 days as he had hiccups for 8 days. endoscopy reports say below

oesophagus : z line 35cm large hiatus hernia. irregular mucosa at GE junction

Duodenum : Erosions in D1 and D2 - Normal Mucosa

Intervention : RUT Mild positive.

My concern is that the doctor has given him Pan D tablets and Sucrafil syrup. understand it is a helicobacter pyroli infection for which no medicine is given. pls advise

Thanks for your question on Health Care Magic.
I can understand your concern.
RUT (rapid urease test) is mild positive. If it is H. Pylori infection then it must be strongly positive.
This is the reason why doctor has not given anti H. Pylori drugs.
His symptoms of hiccups is mostly due to hiatus hernia and erosions.
So better to continue drugs advised by doctor.
Along with drugs, your father needs to follow these lifestyle modifications for better symptomatic relief.
1. Avoid stress and tension.
2. Avoid hot and spicy food.
3. Avoid large meals, instead take frequent small meals.
4. Go for walk after meals.
5. Keep 2-3 pillows under head in the bed to prevent reflux.
Don't worry, he will be alright.
Hope I have solved your query.
Wishing good health to your father.
Thanks.
