Should I Do Hysterectomy With Menopause?

I am 47 years old. I saw a doctor in November 2013 about my fibroids. Hysterectomy was recommended. I had a 2nd opinion in January. The same was recommended. However, after the first opinion my periods became sporadic. In November and December I had no period. January it was very light (they used to be very heavy) February till May very light if at all. Do I still need a hysterectomy. I think menopause has begun because my periods were always predictable until now and I m having hot flashes.
