Suggest Remedy For Scaly Lesion In The Foot

My two year old grandaughter has one small, pink, raised, scaley lesion on the bottom on the foot. The lesion was noted several months ago as what appeared to be a freckle. She is very fair skined, but does not have freckles on other areas. She has an appt next week with a dermatologist, but I am very concerned. What might this be?
