Suggest Remedy For Skin Inflammation

My 88 year old mother has had severe itching over her entire body for over 2 weeks, most especially her trunk. She is about 4' 8" and 145 pounds. There is no noticeable rash or inflammation, but at this point hard to tell as many areas scabbed and bleeding. She was started on reactine, then benadryl and now atarax (taking approximately 30 mgs per day), with no improvement in itchiness. We have tried topical applications of over the counter itch preparation (lanacaine, steroid and calamine) with minimal effect.

Her BUN, creatinine and uric acid levels are elevated and her TSH is elevated. She is on warfarin, furosemide (recently decreased from 60 to 40 mgs) atenolol, levothyroxine, enalapril and nortriptyline.
