Suggest Remedy To Get Rid Of Lumpy Scar On Elbow

I have a scar on my elbow from grazing on the road 2 years ago. It's now a circular lumpy scar and is redish-purple. When I put pressure/press on it, I an feel a slight pain. The location of the scar is close to the elbow bone which has less muscles there. Is it possible to make graze scar less noticable or alternatives to get it surgically fixed? It is quite an embarassing scar when it is summer time.
