Suggest Treatment For Blisters After Removal Of Cast

My husband had a BK amputation 11 days ago. He had the surgery on Monday and was sent home on Tuesday. On Friday of that same week we saw the doctor for a post op visit. When they took the plaster splint off, the stump was badly discolored. It was dark red on top with a patch of black with some blisters along the top of the line of staples about midway of the incision. The bottom had several blisters with a couple of very large ones. The stump was also swollen.

We saw the doctor again this past Tuesday. He told us that it should not look as it does and the healing was behind what it should be. I have been dressing it each day as instructed. The blisters appear to be beginning to heal. But, now there are several under the skin dark (they look dark green to me) places on the bottom of the stump. They do not appear to be sores. I noticed them yesterday but they were more faint and I could not feel them when I rubbed over them. Today, they seem to be closer to the surface and when I gently rub over them, I can feel them just slightly. The doctor is out of his office until next Monday so I can't take my husband in for the doctor to check. What do you think these places may be and should be try to see someone else or wait and see the doctor who performed the surgery when he gets back in his office next week?
