Suggest Treatment For Dry Mouth And Anxiety
Hello doctor..
i am 37, 5'-6'', 65 kg. have been taking HAPICIT E (Escitalopram) OD for last 6 months due to anxiety, palpitation and hyper tension, as prescribed by my doctor. Often i get sore throat problem as an allergy caused by cold or some citric liquid. i used to take SOFTIN (Loratadine 10 mg) OD. but almost a year back, due to severe bronchospasm and chest congestion, doctor asked me to take FEXET D {(Pseudoephedrine (HCl):120mg, Fexofenadine:60mg)} as BD dose. i got cured. but now i often use to take this drug off and on due to allergy problem i mean sore throat or postnasal drippling. I have started feeling dry mouth and some how anxiety again. Please advise me if this is side effect of this drug or should I give up taking this madicine? pls. suggest

You are taking Escitalopram for anxiety and have been given Pseudoephedrine and Fexofenadine combination two tablets a day for chest congestion. Both drugs of this combination can cause sedation and pseudoephidrine is known to increase serotonin levels. Taking the combination with Escitalopram should increase seortonin levels in brain and this may cause seortonin syndrome also. As per my opinion the symptoms like dry mouth are occurring due to taking high dose of the FEXET-D and Escitalopram together. To prevent one option is to take FEXET-D on SOS basis because continuous use results in tolerance also. Consult your doctor and explain to him about your anti anxiety drugs status.
