Hi, I’m 19 years old and have hyperhidrosis. At first i was affected most by my armpits sweating for no reason. After trying to hide this problem for 2 years i finally told my mother that i had a problem and she told me she had the same when she was younger. Getting it off my chest to my mum was a real help and then i felt i could talk to a doctor about it, and he gave me 'driclor' to roll under my arms before i went to sleep, which has stopped the armpit sweating completely. However, over the past year my face has started to become really affected by heat and sweat. It is really starting to take over my life, as i sometimes won’t go out of the house if it’s a warm day. I also have walked out of university lectures because of my facial sweating and the embarrassment it brings. I don’t know if it's a physical or mental issue or both, because my facial sweating occurs when i have participated in a long or small endurance task, like walking up a hill to my lectures, but also if i am sitting in my lectures or at a bar with my mates, and i start to worry that I’m sweating when I’m not, i feel like I’m getting hotter and hotter and start to sweat from my face really badly. This has caused other problem as i have started smoking, not because i like smoking or addicted to smoking, but because it is a reason to go outside and get fresh air and to cool down. I also sweat from my hands, groin, back and feet but these don’t affect me as much as facial sweating. I have looked into possible treatment for the face and the best looking treatment i came across was Botox, which stops the sweating for 4 months or maybe more, and costs around £380 to do. However i am a student, and my parents don’t make enough money to pay for this treatment 3 times a year so i was wondering if you could offer me and alternative treatment for my facial issues? Thanks
