Suggest Treatment For Groin Pain

my wife is 54 years old she has been told the pain in her groin is a broad ligament strain or pull it flares up from time to time and then subsides today it woke her up in early am with extreme pain she is applying heat to it now she says it feels like a knife stabbed her in groin and was pulled down her leg outside of surgery how can this be treated or at least the pain relieved she is fairly healthy otherwise she has had 4 children the youngest being 27 years old
