Suggest Treatment For Itching At I/v Insertion Site

I had surgery 2.5 weeks ago. They put the IV in the back of my hand. The site isn't infected, but it started itching last night. I know this is probably part of the healing process...it wasn't a small IV. What is the best way to alleviate the itching?
