Suggest Treatment For Pain And Discomfort Underneath The Breast

Since 2004, I have been suffering pain/discomfort in the right side of my chest. It ranges from underneath the breast, all the way round to the back. Its an aching, irritating type of pain, and feels much like when you apply pressure to a bad bruise. It is only a problem when I wear a bra.

By 2005 the pain was so bad, I stopped wearing a bra (to great detriment of my confidence). In July 2008, I had breast reduction surgery with Transform, and for the next year or so, had almost no pain. In 2010, the pain returned, and I have since been seeking treatments.

Standard OTC pills (ibruprofen, etc) have no effect. Neither do Lidocaine patches. I have also tried Amitriptyline, but to no avail. A scan in March 2010, revealed some muscle damage in the area. This year, I had an intercostal nerve block, which just increased the pain. I've tried Pregabalin (150mg twice daily) which began to improve the pain, but I suffered chronic side effects. Recently, I tried Capsaicin 0.025% cream, which has also had no effect, and Nortriptyline (25mg), which had no effect, except to depress my mood. I take 60mg Prozac daily to manage chronic anxiety and depression, which is successful, apart from the depression caused by the side pain. On a good day, I am able to wear a non-wired sports bra, with only minor irritation. On the more common bad days, I am unable to wear a bra, and resort to staying in bed. Pain is usually worse in the week leading upto my period. Exercise, other than swimming, is impossible. As I am trying to lose weight, not being able to exercise greatly increases my depression.

Worryingly, over the past year or so, I have begun to experience a similar pain in the back of my right leg, ranging from the buttock down to just above the knee. At first, I only noticed it while wearing tight jeans, but over the last few months, even leggings and tights have irritated it, and sometimes it just aches without stimulus. I do not know if these two pains are related.
