Suggest Treatment For Persistent Chest & Back Pain

I had a full body bone scan done recently. It was performed to find a possible cause of my chest and back pain. Other than an area of my thoracic vertebrae "showing up", both mastoids were indicated during the bone scan. My orthopaedist wants to refer me to an ENT just in case. Why could BOTH mastoids be "showing up"? I am a 37 year old female with good health besides the persistent chest and back pain.
