Suggest Treatment For Severe Biliary Colic

My wife has had 5 attacks/episodes in the last 6 years since having her Gall Bladder removed. These painful attacks have all resulted to trips to the ER where they give her multi-types of pain medication until she passes out and the attacks stop. Our primary care doctor has described this as severe biliary colic. What are the options for trating this condition?
