Suggest Treatment For Soreness, Swelling And Bleeding From Bottom Lip

Hi,

Need help. I just had a mole removal on my bottom lip and had 2 stitches 4 days ago. My lip was healing but still swollen a bit but today my 3 yr old son accidentally hit my lip. It was sore and was bleeding. I looked at the mirror, 1 stitch was out and excision cut is open. Should I go to the clinic to follow up. Please tell me what to do? Bleeding already stopped and I put healing ointment. Pls help

As per your complain swelling and soreness or pain after any surgical procedure occurs as a result of inflammation which is a common finding after any surgical procedure..

In case if the healing lesion will get injured or traumatized bleeding is not an abnormal finding..
This occurs because the inflamed tissue has more of premature blood vessels and slight stimulation can cause bleeding ..

If the stitch is broken or disrupted you should consult your doctor to get a clinical evaluation done and get the suture placed again if it is required..
It is necessary as without stitch the healing may take place with scar formation and can be unsighty..

You need not to worry as the face has a good blood supply and healing takes place faster in injuries of facial structures and mouth..
You should do cold packs over the healing region as it helps in reducing inflammation and relieve soreness and pain..
Apply antibiotic ointment like Neosporin, Soframycin etc as it will help in preventing infection as well as provide isolation of the area from moisture and help in faster healing..
