Suggest Treatment For Thumb Pain

My mother was taking Wysolene 20mg for the past 17years along with Mesacol 400mgX3 per day for Ulcerative colitis. Due to gradual reduction in dosage of Wysolene she is having abnormal RHS Thumb pain and LHS middle finger pain with swelling. There is no fracture etc., confirmed with Ortho Drs.
Kindly inform me an ointment or solution to reduce abnormal pain in RHS Thumb finger.
