What Are The Symptoms Of Menopause?

I am 40 yrs old. Had a tubal ligation done about 17 yrs ago. I did not get my period for 2 months, spotted for an hour, nothing for a week, spotted for another hour, another week went by, amd now I've been bleeding very HEAVY for 20 days with no signs of it lightening up or stopping. I'm getting really scared. Is this typical in women reaching menopause? I have the following other things going on as well-excessively tired, hot flashes, night sweats, extremely irritable (more than normal), hard time concentrating, major increase in sexual appetite.
