What Causes A Red Raised Area On The Palm Of A Hand?

Hi. I have had an itchy spot on my hand for about 6 days. It initially started out as an area that looked like a bug bite. Since then it has caused a red raised welted area from in between my middle and ring finger across my palm to the side of my hand and it's moving towards the back of my hand. What could this be?
