What Causes Abdominal Cramps, Constipation And Blood In Stool?
Hello, After being constipated for about a week or more I started having severe cramps and gas. I then began to have small bowel movements that had blood in my stool. Sometimes it was bright red and others were dark colored. I took a laxative and this helps relieve some of the pressure but I am still having pain in the same area of my abdomen. The pain seem to come in waves that subside after about ten minutes. I am now bleeding more than before the laxative and, at times, it is only blood.

General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi,
It seems severe constipation has caused internal piles. You need immediate evacuation of bowels without irritating rectum. In my view a glycerine syringe followed by regular stool softener and needful associated treatment for piles (if confirmed by rectoscopy) and any associated infection. Please get examined by a surgeon by an ano-rectal surgeon for a personal advice.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Vasudha Jayant Athavale, General & Family Physician
