What Causes Burning Sensation Inside The Shaft Of The Penis?

For several days I have had a burning sensation inside the shaft of my penis and also a slight burning of the rectum. I've also noticed an occasional change in my penis foreskin such as loose skin. It just doesnt look quite right. There is no pain during urination nor are there any sores, etc. About 6 years ago I was diagnosed with herpes II. I have had no outbreaks since then but know they can happen at any time. Is this a prodrome stage or could there be another possible problem?
