What Causes Crunching And Pain In The Bones Of The Arms?

I messed some ribs up in a motorcycle accident 5 days ago. The x-rays didn t reveal any fractures or breaks, but there is considerable crunching when I move, not to mention the pain. What is this crunching from? I am currently on vicodin, muscle relaxer, and naproxin for the pain and inflamation. I am 52 years old, am 5 9 , and weigh 205 lbs. Besides hypothyroidism and cholesterol, I am quite healthy. So my question is two-fold. 1. What is causing the crunching feeling and sounds? 2. Should I be avoiding too much movement or should I do as much as I can with the pain? It s so bad, I cannot lie down at night.
