What Causes Cyst On The Outside Of The Vagina?

I have what I think is a cyst on the outside of my vagina. It is not near my vaginal opening, it is much higher up. Its quite hard to explain where it is. Ive only just noticed it within the last week and today it has become quite painful. Whats wrong!!
Im 26, about 170cm tall, weigh approx 80kg and havent had any medical issues like this before.
