What Causes Itchy, Red Spots On Chest And Left Arm?

I have red spots on my chest and left arm. They kind of itch but really hurt on my chest. My doctor called it shingles but then i have the spots on my arm a week later. It does not look like pictures of shingles,hurts on my chest but is kind of itch on my arm.
